This Privacy Policy explains how MATON handles information when students, parents and guardians, teachers, schools and administrators use our learning platform. We wrote it in plain language so families and schools can understand it without a lawyer.
Who operates MATON
MATON is owned and operated by Max4Biz LLC, a Georgia limited liability company. When this policy says “we”, “us” or “MATON”, it means Max4Biz LLC.
Our website is https://maton-edu.com. You can reach us any time at hello@maton-edu.com or +1 (215) 986-2672.
Who this policy covers
MATON is built for a school and family community, so this policy covers:
- Students
- Parents and legal guardians
- Teachers
- Schools and authorized school personnel
- School administrators
- Platform administrators (our own staff)
Different roles see different information. What each person can access depends on their role and the school or family they are connected to.
Children’s privacy
Children under 13 may use MATON only with verifiable consent or authorization from a parent, legal guardian, or a participating school acting within its lawful authority. We do not knowingly allow a child under 13 to create an unrestricted independent account without that consent.
Parents and legal guardians can, where legally required:
- Review the information connected to their child’s account
- Request that information be corrected
- Request that information be deleted
- Withdraw consent for continued use
- Contact us about the child’s account at any time
Schools may create or manage student access and may provide consent or authorization on behalf of families when applicable law and their agreement with parents allow it. In those cases the school decides who may use MATON and what student information is shared with us.
MATON is designed to support applicable child-privacy and education-privacy obligations. We do not claim any certification or compliance status that has not been independently verified.
Information we collect
We collect only what a feature actually needs. Depending on the role and the features in use, this may include:
- Name, email address, telephone number and account credentials
- Date of birth, age range, grade level or educational level
- School, course, class and enrollment information
- Parent–student and guardian relationships
- Teacher and staff information
- Assignments, assessments, grades, progress, goals and learning activity
- Notes, uploaded documents, book covers, book pages, images and other files
- AI prompts, tutoring conversations, generated exercises and responses
- Support requests and communications with us
- Device, browser, IP address, security events and audit information
- Subscription, transaction and billing-status information
- Camera or photo-library content when used for scanning or uploading
- Microphone audio when used for speaking practice, language practice or AI voice features
- Location information only when you activate a feature that genuinely requires it
We do not continuously collect precise or background location. Location permission is contextual, optional and limited to a real feature you choose to use.
Camera, photo and microphone permissions
- We request permission only when you activate a feature that needs it.
- You can deny or later revoke any permission through your device or browser settings.
- MATON does not activate your camera or microphone secretly or in the background.
- Content you upload or record is processed for the educational function you chose, plus safety, support or another purpose disclosed in this policy.
Payment information
Digital subscriptions may be processed by the Apple App Store, Google Play or another approved payment provider. Physical Family Kits and web purchases may be processed by an authorized payment provider.
MATON does not store complete card numbers. Sensitive payment credentials are handled by the payment provider under its own privacy policy and terms. We receive only the information we need to confirm a purchase, subscription status or refund.
How we use information
- Providing and personalizing educational services
- Operating the student, parent, teacher and school portals
- Tracking authorized learning progress
- Generating AI-assisted educational content
- Processing subscriptions and kit orders
- Sending necessary notifications
- Providing customer support
- Protecting accounts and preventing fraud or abuse
- Maintaining audit and security records
- Improving platform performance and reliability
- Meeting legal and contractual obligations
AI transparency
MATON uses AI-assisted features for tutoring, recommendations, summaries, quizzes, exercises, lesson support and other educational functions. Please keep these limits in mind:
- AI output can contain errors or incomplete explanations.
- Important academic decisions — grades, placement, assessment outcomes — should be reviewed by a qualified teacher or a responsible adult.
- We do not use private educational content to train public AI models. If that practice ever changed, we would disclose it clearly and only do it where lawfully authorized.
- Please avoid uploading sensitive information that a feature does not need.
School and role isolation
School information is restricted to authorized users inside their permitted school context. Parents can access only the children properly linked to them. Teachers and school staff can access only the information their role and school permissions allow. Personal accounts and school workspaces stay separate. We do not publish the internal details of these protections.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the educational service, a school agreement, security, legal, financial or operational purposes.
Deleting an account may not immediately remove information that must legally be retained, that has been securely de-identified, or that forms part of official school records controlled by a participating school.
Account deletion
You can start account deletion from Settings → Account inside MATON using the Request account deletion option, which sends a verified deletion request to our team. The account is not deleted immediately; we inform you when the process is completed.
You can also email a deletion request to hello@maton-edu.com from the address on the account. Full details — what is deleted, what may be retained and how we verify a request — are on our public account deletion page.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls based on role and school, encrypted connections, audit logging and least-privilege staff access. No online service can promise absolute security, so we do not. If you believe an account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@maton-edu.com.
International users
MATON is operated from the United States. If you use MATON from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or in other locations where our authorized service providers operate, subject to applicable safeguards and contractual protections.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and your role, you may have the right to request access to your information, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent you previously gave.
To make a request, email hello@maton-edu.com. We may need to verify your identity, or confirm with the school that controls a student record, before we act.
Changes and contact
If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date and notify account holders in the app or by email before the change takes effect where required.
