Account deletion

There are two ways to start a deletion request:

• Inside the app: sign in and open Settings → Account, then choose Request account deletion. This sends a verified deletion request from your signed-in account to our team.
• By email: write to hello@maton-edu.com from the email address on the account, with the subject “Account deletion request”.

Submitting a request does not delete the account immediately. The MATON team reviews and processes verified requests, and we inform you when the deletion is completed. Some information may need to be retained where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or other legitimate compliance purposes.

A parent or legal guardian may request deletion for a child’s account. A school may request deletion for accounts it created and manages.

We confirm that the request really comes from the account holder, the parent or guardian, or an authorized school contact. We may ask you to reply from the account email address or to confirm details we already hold.

We aim to confirm receipt within a few business days and to complete verified deletions within 30 days.

• Your sign-in account and profile details
• Personal study data: homework, exams, notes, goals, timers, reading records and progress
• AI tutoring conversations and generated practice linked to your account
• Files and images you uploaded to your personal workspace
• Personal notification settings and preferences

• Records we must keep by law, or for tax, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes
• Security and audit logs kept for a limited period to protect all users
• Information that has been securely de-identified and can no longer identify you
• Official school records controlled by a participating school — those are deleted according to the school’s instructions and its own retention rules
